Automatic Coffee Maker
It used to be that when I woke up in the morning I would make my first cup of coffee from those instant crystals that I would just slip into some hot water and stir. You see, I’m a late sleeper and I tend to sleep heavily. I certainly do not enjoy getting up in the mornings for work, but it is something that is necessary, so I would just wake up, throw some coffee crystals into some hot water and choke it down. Yes, it wasn’t the greatest tasting but it did the job. I had not, at that time, considered an automatic coffee maker because I did not like the thought of waking up earlier and hearing that slow hissing and plunking noise from the automatic coffee maker. Not to mention that I did not have the time in the morning to measure out the ingredients and wait for it to brew, it was much easier to just make my instant coffee and leave the automatic coffee maker to those with more time in the mornings.
Then one day my attitude changed. You see I woke up a little late and was rushing around getting ready for work. It was already turning out to be a lousy morning. Then I opened the cupboard and was shocked (and disappointed) to see that I was totally out of my instant coffee crystals. I rushed out the door and flew through the line at Starbucks just to get a hot cup of joe that was brewed, not from crystals, but from their own automatic coffee maker. I was shocked! The coffee that had been made by their automatic coffee maker was so much better than the crystals that I was drinking every morning. Later that day, on my way home from work I stopped and bought myself an automatic coffee maker, I chose the Black and Decker Coffee Maker.
As it turns out, the convenience that I was enjoying by using my instant coffee crystals every morning was keeping me from actually enjoying the flavor of a freshly brewed cup of coffee. You end up losing so much taste when you go with instant as opposed to using an automatic coffee maker that I learned quickly that it just wasn’t worth it in the end. Not to mention the fact that if you are like me and enjoy sleeping until the very last minute then you can just do what I do… brew the coffee the night before and then heat it up in the morning. You can do this with one of those timers that you plug into a receptical. Just have the coffee pot come on about a half hour before you wake up and it will have your hot coffee ready for you when you wake up. If you really want some strong coffee they have automatic espresso makers available, but for me, I’ll just enjoy my automatic coffee maker and the wonderful black liquid that it gives me every morning.
