Constructing A Coffee Filter Butterfly
Here is a great project that you can do with your children. You can make a coffee filter butterfly! These are really cute ideas to do with your kids. They can be cute gifts for Grandma or even a teacher. And, best of all, making coffee filter butterflies is easy! Here are some easy steps to follow to make your butterflies.
First of all, to make your butterfly you will need to gather a few things. You will need wooden clothes pins, round coffee filters, black paint, watercolors (or washable markers), a glue gun and a black pipe cleaner. The directions to making your butterfly are simple. But, make sure that mom or dad is there to help with the coffee filters and the butterfly assembly. Use the black paint to paint the butterfly body (the clothes pin). Then, attach the butterfly antenna with a hot glue gun. This is the pipe cleaner! Make a shape with the pipe cleaner and glue to the flat end of the butterfly body.
The next step is to make the butterfly wings! Take two coffee filters and wet them slightly. Just enough to have the filters laying flat. Then, lightly dab them with watercolors or you can use washable markers. The paints will run and blend. That’s what you want them to do on the coffee filters. Then, allow them to dry. From here, you can bunch the coffee filters in the middle and clip the filters to the clothes pin. You have just made a butterfly!
This is an easy craft project that allows children to use simple tools such as coffee filters to make something beautiful that can be proudly displayed. Can you think of any other creations you can make with coffee filters? Or, can you find any other ideas for making butterflies?
