How to make a Lungo
How to make a Lungo??? Lungo in Italian means ‘long’. So we are making a long espresso, or the opposite of a Ristretto.
Steps for making a Lungo:
- Get hold of some dark roasted espresso beans. Oily-looking is the choice bean here. Use the darkest of the espresso coffee beans. Traditional Italian Style!
- You want to grind these espresso beans until they are very fine.
- Pack the grinds into the group (handle) of the espresso machine.
- Place your cup/s under the group. Turned on your espresso machine. You should see a hazel brown crema appear at the surface of the coffee when its finished.
- Now add an extra ounce or two (30ml or 60ml) of hot water to the espresso.
Now all you have to do is enjoy your Espresso Lungo!!!
Note: Espresso Lungo is not the same as an Espresso Americano.
